Sometimes paintings work and sometimes they don't. I was having problems trying to get the bark on the tree just right, but kept on messing it up that I eventually just painted over with some gouache. Also, toned paper was a bad idea for the this painting. Probably would of been better off just using white watercolor paper. Live and learn!
