Recently I got a new book binding book "Book Art Studio Handbook" by Stacie Dolin and Amy Lapidow. In the book they had a small chapter on making punching trough. I showed my husband the section and asked him if he would make me one.
For $10.00 in material and his labor, I got a punching trough. Using this punching trough makes one step of book binding so much easier.
